A Multimedia Guide around the Kunskammer Halls

More than 5,000 descriptions of the museum exhibits, video and audio programs, thousands of photos from the whole of the world are now available directly in the halls of the museum

A multimedia guide includes:

 
  • A guide around the museum
  • Encyclopedia “Countries, Peoples and Culture”
  • “Museum for the Children” section.

Touch-sensitive kiosks with the multimedia guide are installed in all the halls of the museum, and in some of them there are large displays to view the video programs.

The multimedia guide allows the viewers to make a tour around the museum, independently orientating themselves in the halls. Choose in consecutive order the building, the storey, the hall, the show-case, the exhibit, and you will learn a lot of interesting details about it.

 

Encyclopedia "Countries, Peoples and Culture"

     
 

The multimedia guide allows to easily get to any part of the Globe - maps, descriptions, photos and illustrations, video and audio materials from the archives of the museum, and collected in the recent expeditions make it possible for you to get in touch with vivid and original cultures of the peoples of the world. To choose the Encyclopedia section press “Contents” to the right.

The Encyclopedia has very simple control keys:

“Museum for the Children” section

     

The electronic games and quizzes are available not only in the touch-sensitive kiosks in the halls of the museum, but in the Children’s Centre of the museum as well. Interactive tales, quizzes, games to train attentiveness and ethnographic lotto will allow your children to learn a lot of interesting things, having a good time and enjoying themselves.

The “MAE RAS Multimedia Information-Expositional Complex” project was established with the support of the RF Culture and Mass Communications Ministry, Saint-Petersburg Committee on Culture, International Bank of Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), Culture Support Investment Fund, Saint-Petersburg Investment Construction Projects Fund within the framework of the “Saint-Petersburg’s Economic Development” project.
