Traditional way of life

Interosculation of the local and western features is typical of the modern way of life and the material culture of the Japanese. To a greater extent this synthesis is observed in architecture and in the Japanese dwelling, and to a lesser – in the national cuisine.

The Japanese treat their national traditions, including the everyday ones, with great respect. In the dynamic modern society they seek for support in permanency and find it in the traditional dwelling, the style of Japanese clothes and national cuisine. A large number of the Japanese people are well aware of their culture. Their involving in their own tradition psychologically creates the depth of time, the common cultural memory and the feeling of a well-provided background. The philosophy of the Japanese is to a large extent defined by esthetic norms, and their refined artistic taste penetrates all aspects of their traditional way of life.
