Artistic craftwork
Ancient artistic styles have formed in the Region: the one of Egypt, Sumerian; Iranian Achaemenid, Hellenistic. With the oncoming of Islam the tendency to lavishly decorate the ornamented surface prevailed; to use plant and geometrical ornaments, and, most important - the tendency to the introduction of phrases in Arabic into the decorative elements, primarily the citations from the Koran. Traditional varieties of craftwork are preserved - that of blacksmith's, copper, jewelry, currying, thick felts manufacturing, wool and silk spinning, and many others. A separate, special place is occupied by carpet weaving, especially in Iran, the carpets hand made there are renowned in the whole world. | | | The Temple of Ammon, Colonnade, Luxor. Egypt. Yu.K.
