Rites
To the Muslim rites of the life cycle belong the ones mentioned below. Circumcision for the boys and in a number of Muslim countries for the girls as well (Egypt, Sudan, Yemen, Oman and some others). Circumcision for the boys is compulsory in Judaism and in some movements of the Eastern Christianity (for example among Copts); Marriage - a husband has a right to marry and have 4 wives at a time; it is his duty to treat the women justly, providing each of the wives with the marriage gift (mahr); the Persians, Turks, Arabs and some others prefer the marriage to the uncle's (by the father's side) daughter. At the same time the divorce procedure is rather simple both for husband and wife. Burial must be carried out on the day of death or on the following day (this rule is observed by many Christians of the Region). The corpse is washed, wrapped in cerement, carried to the cemetery on the barrow (usually without any coffin), and put into the grave with the dead person facing Mecca. The food banned for the Muslim includes pork, the meat of predator birds, carrion, blood (the same as for the Jews), and any alcoholic beverages and any animal, stabbed not in the name of Allah. | | | The Rite of Dressing a Hebre Bride.
