On March 9, 2012 the Russian Cultural Center in Ljubljana (Slovenia) held the opening of the exhibition titled "In the Mirrors of Time. Peoples of Russia through the Eyes of Photographers at the Turn of the 19th–20th Centuries (from the Collections of St. Petersburg Kunstkamera)" in the city of Maribor (Slovenia) during the festival "Maribor 2012. European Capital of Culture".
Fifty unique archival photographs from the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) Russian Academy of Sciences tell the exhibition visitors the live stories of ordinary people of multinational Russia, as it was over a hundred years ago.
Mr. Tomaž Kancler, Vice-Mayor of Maribor, Dr Ekaterina Genieva, the famous Russian literary critic, Director General of the M. I. Rudomino All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature and Vice President of World Federation of Libraries, Dr Rifat Pateev, Counselor of Russian Embassy in Slovenia, took part in the solemn ceremony of the exhibition opening. Speakers presented their vision of the exhibition, based on the motto "Live together, while remaining diverse" which is clear to both Russians and EU citizens
The exhibition project was realized with the support of the "Center of National Glory". The authors of the project are Deputy Director of MAE RAS Prof Efim Rezvan and Anna Kudriavtceva.
