Dr. Willem Mulder. “Frederik Ruysch – a phenomena”.
On May, 17th, 2012, a regular session of the seminar titled “Scientia Kunstkameras” took place in the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) RAS. Dr. Willem Mulder, a specialist in the 17th-18th-century medicine from the Netherlands, read his paper titled “Frederik Ruysch – a phenomena”.
Mulder’s passionate interest in the work of Frederik Ruisch, who was one of the most famous Dutch anatomists, was aroused by Dr. A.M. Luyendijk–Elshout, Mulder’s teacher and mentor. For many years they worked together in the Medical Department of Leiden University. While Dr. Luyendijk in her publications aspired to show the importance of Ryusch’s activities to the world, Willem Mulder is doing his best to help preserve the heritage of the outstanding anatomist.
