18.11.2013

In November 7—18, 2013 the Russian Cultural Center in Budapest (Hungary) presented the exhibition “In the Mirror of Time: Dialogue of Cultures in the Russian world” by Prof Efim Rezvan, MAE RAS Deputy Director.

Last summer it crossed the whole Russia on board of the ship “Rimsky-Korsakov” as part of the expedition “Slavic course — 2012”.

The works selected for the exhibition present one of the most important collections of archival photographic materials which is now stored in the MAE RAS as well as the archives of the expedition “Slavic course”, which gathered a wonderful collection of photographs dedicated to the cultural heritage of Yugra.

Not only members of the expedition team, but residents of small Ob river settlements such as Octyabriskoe, Sherkaly, Nizjnie Narykary, Beriozovo, Azov, Muzji, Shuryshkary, Gorki, Bolsherechie became the audience of the exhibition.

In 2011 due to the support of the Center for National Glory, the Russian embassy in Slovenia and Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation Federal Agency (commonly known as Rossotrudnichestvo) variants of the exhibition project were presented within the frames of the XI Annual Session of the World Public Forum "Dialogue of Civilizations"  (Rhodes, Greece), at the Russian Center of Science and Culture and Ljubljana as well as the international economic conference “Russia and the European Union” in Bled (Slovenia) and in the city of Maribor during the festival“Maribor 2012. European Capital of Culture”.

The exhibition authors have looked at the museum photographic collection as a family album of sorts. The main function of a family album is to gather “social assets” of a family and present those to the outside world. They also tried to bring to the attention of the guests of the exhibition our understanding of the basic principles of Russian civilization.
