Exhibition of Yuri Molodkovets’ photography “Peru. Levels of design”

The Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) is glad to present the exhibition of Yuri Molodkovets’ photography “Peru. Levels of design”. Exhibition starts on June 23rd­ 2009 at 16:00.

Culture of Peru is a unique phenomenon in history of mankind. For five thousand years dozens of cultures existed and disappeared on the territory of modern Peru. They appeared in mountains and deserts, on the coast of Pacific and at 3-4 kilometers above sea level. Indian cultures of hot and damp forests of Peruvian Amazonia developed by their own special way.

The project is an attempt to unite visual forms of Inca, Nasca civilizations’ monuments, modern life of Uros and Mayoruna tribes. Exhibition “Peru. Levels of design” contains photos, taken during expedition organized by “Axioma” company in January 2009.

Yuri Molodkovets is a photo artist of the State Hermitage, author of more than 180 catalogs and albums devoted to collections of Hermitage and books about St. Petersburg’s history and architecture. He is known as one of the most interesting photographers of St. Petersburg and actively collaborates with Russian and foreign art magazines about architecture, design and art, organizes photo exhibitions in European and Russian museums, leads a number of publishing projects. His photos are kept in collections of a number of big Russian museums and in private collections in Russia, France, Great Britain.

Exhibition is a part of museum’s complex program of gathering photo materials, their modern keeping and their presentation to public.

Exhibition works in MAE (Kunstkamera) RAS from June 23 to September 27, 2009 during museum’s working hours.
