The Body. Art and Science
The National Museum of Fine Arts houses The Body. Art and Science exhibition.
The exhibition presents
constructive symbiosis of artists and physicians ranging from Leonardo da
Vinci's anatomical studies to Mona Hatoum's installation Corps etrangers (1994).
Among the items on displayare anatomical drawings, drawings from life,
illustrations from medical books, wax casts, sculptures and even installations
based on the body.
Peter the Great Museum of
Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) provided the following specimens from
Frederik Ruysch's natural-scientific collection
bought by Russian Imperator Peter I.
