Commentation:
The exterior of this bowl is covered with red lacquer, the interior with gold lacquer. Three chidori (sandpiper) birds on the cover are drawn with gold lacquer. Three more birds are depicted at the interior bottom of the bowl – their silhouettes can be seen through the golden lacquer coating.
