Commentation:
A model of a traditional Japanese pleasure boat yakatabune (literally - "boat house), made on spec. commissioned by Europeans as a collector's item, which characterizes the traditional Japanese water transport of the Edo period (1600-1868); It is a wooden structure with separate removable parts - the wheel, two staircases, a brazier (lost) and a drawer with a removable lid.
