Consuls of the Visegrád Group countries visited the Kunstkamera
On June 29, the Kunstkamera was visited by the consuls of the Visegrád Group Countries: Consul General of the Republic of Poland in St. Petersburg Mr. Grzegorz Ślubowski, Consul General of Hungary in St. Petersburg Mr. Gabor Ferenc Nagy, Consul General of the Slovak Republic in St. Petersburg Mr. Igor Derco and Consul General of the Czech Republic in St. Petersburg Mr. Jan Čížek.
Dr. Andrei V. Golovnev, Director of the MAE (Kunstkamera) RAS, welcomed the consuls. A tour of the permanent exposition of the oldest museum in Russia for diplomats was given by Dr. Alexander A. Novik, head of the Department of Europe of the MAE RAS. The senior researcher of the Project Research department Dr. Veronika A. Belyaeva-Sachuk told the guests about the collections of Bronisław Piłsudski in the Kunstkamera collections and the large-scale Russian-Polish project which resulted in the album “The World of the Ainu through the eyes of Bronisław Piłsudski. Kunstkamera collections”. The publication of the album was preceded by a fruitful joint work of Russian and Polish scientists, and overall this project is an interesting example of cooperation between the two countries in the field of scientific and cultural research. Representatives of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography expressed their interest in implementing similar projects with different countries and different institutions of the Visegrád Group.
Meanwhile at the end of June the year of Poland's presidency in the Visegrád Group ends and from July Hungary will chair this organization.
