Participation of the researchers of the MAE RAS in the XIV Congress of Anthropologists and Ethnologists of Russia

 

Today July 6, the XIV Congress of Anthropologists and Ethnologists of Russia organized by the Association of Anthropologists and Ethnologists of Russia in cooperation with the National Research Tomsk State University, the Miklukho-Maklai Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the support of the Tomsk Region Administration.

The co-chairs of the Program Committee made a welcoming speech at the opening of the Congress: Rector of the National Research Tomsk State University Dr. Prof. Eduard Galazhinsky; Director of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera), Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dr. Prof. Andrei Golovnev; Academician-Secretary of the Department of Historical and Philological Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, President of the Association of Anthropologists and Ethnologists of Russia, Scientific Director of the Miklukho-Maklai Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dr. Prof. Valery Tishkov; Director of the Miklukho-Maklai Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dr. Prof. Dmitry Funk.

The main theme of the Congress is “Anthropology and Ethnology in Search of Answers to Social Challenges”. In line with the main theme, it is planned to discuss contemporary tasks and priorities of anthropology and ethnology, ethnological / anthropological education and enlightenment, the phenomenon of identity, national and language policy and monitoring of interethnic relations, fields and methods of applied and urgent anthropology in conditions of social crises, anthropology of religion, a wide range of problems related to the study of migration, digital anthropology, new trends in tourism anthropology and museum anthropology, and a number of other modern trends in anthropology.

An important place will be taken by the analysis of modern achievements in the field of biological anthropology, cross-cultural research, ethology, in the use of methods and techniques of field and desk research. As at all previous congresses, special attention will be paid to comprehending historiographic traditions and reflecting on the work of ethnologists and anthropologists.

The Congress will be held online on the Zoom platform.

Researchers of the MAE RAS prepared 47 reports. Also, scientists of the MAE RAS act as convenors of 8 sections at the Congress.

The Congress will end its work on July 9, 2021.
