First visit to the Kunstkamera of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in the Russian Federation

On February 10, as part of the official visit to St. Petersburg, a delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in the Russian Federation visited the oldest museum in Russia. The head of the delegation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in the Russian Federation Mr. Lwin Oo met with Director of the MAE (Kunstkamera) RAS Andrey Golovnev, Deputy Director for Research of the MAE RAS Vladimir Davydov and Senior Researcher of the Department of Ethnography of East and Southeast Asia Alexander Sinitsyn. The participants of the meeting discussed the prospects for cooperation in the scientific and cultural spheres - the possibility of joint scientific research, holding joint conferences and exhibitions, and the participation of Myanmar museums in the projects of the MAE RAS.

After the meeting, the guests were introduced to the permanent museum exhibitions of the Kunstkamera. Director of the MAE RAS Andrey Golovnev spoke about the permanent exhibition Imperial Hall: Multinational Russia, as well as about the development of ethnography in Russia. A tour of the halls representing the traditions and culture of the peoples of Southeast Asia was given by Alexander Sinitsyn. The guests were particularly impressed by the museum multimedia technologies used in the creation of the new permanent exhibitions, as well as objects from the Buddhist collections of the Kunstkamera.
