Online meeting with the representatives of the Ministry of Culture, the Embassy and the Ministry of European Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand
Today, July 5, a meeting of the group working on the development of the new permanent exhibition at the MAE (Kunstkamera) RAS was held under the leadership of the museum director Andrei Golovnev with the representatives of the Ministry of Culture, the Embassy and the Ministry of European Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand. The meeting was also attended by Ms. Sirikitiya Jensen, who is a member of the Royal family of Thailand and an official of the Ministry of Culture.
At the meeting, issues of restoration and display of the gifts of the King Rama V of Thailand to Tsarevich Nikolai Alexandrovich in the Imperial Hall of the MAE RAS, which is scheduled to open on November 2, 2022, were discussed.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of the MAE RAS: Director A. V. Golovnev, Leading Researcher of the Center for Arctic Research E. V. Perevalova, Senior Researcher of the Department of Ethnography of East and South East Asia A.Yu. Sinitsyn, Chief Designer D. A. Kukanov, Leading Specialist in International Relations of the Center for Media Communications K. A. Maretina.
Andrei Golovnev presented the project of the new permanent exhibition "Multiethnic Russia", which will be located in the Imperial Hall of the museum, and where among the gifts to the emperors of Russia will be presented items from the Thai collections, including gifts from King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) to the heir to the Russian throne, who visited Siam at the end of the 19th century. Andrei Golovnev offered his Thai colleagues co-authorship in the composition of the Siamese showcase and invited them to the opening ceremony of the new permanent exhibition. In turn, the Thai colleagues requested detailed information about the new permanent exhibition project and the Thai objects themselves, thanked for the invitation to the opening ceremony and announced that they were considering the possibility of visiting the exhibition before its opening, during the preparation process.
