December 6 — Kunstkamera Day

Dear friends,

Today is a very special day — Kunstkamera Day, marking the anniversary of Russia's first museum, established by Peter the Great to explore the amazing diversity of the world. Three hundred and eleven years ago, he opened its doors free of charge, offering refreshments and inviting everyone to come and learn. The spirit of openness and curiosity that characterized those early days continues to live within these walls today.

Here, we have people deeply passionate about their work. Every exhibit, every expedition, every encounter with visitors contributes to an ongoing dialogue about how varied and wondrous the world truly is.

We are grateful to all those who make this museum vibrant — researchers, curators, restorers, tour guides, security staff. And most importantly, thank you to our visitors — over 700 thousand this year alone!

Kunstkamera is where past meets present, where different nations and cultures converge.

Happy Kunstkamera Day!
