Expedition to Mongolia

In June-July the expedition of Dr. Zhanna Mongeevna Yusha, leading researcher of the MAE RAS, to Tuvinians of Darkhan, Selengin and Tov aimags of Mongolia took place. During the field work, ethnographic and folklore materials characterising the current state of the enclave tradition of the Tuvins of Mongolia were recorded in the conditions of migration processes from Tsengel to the central aimags.

It was a great success of the expedition that on 24 June in the village of Orkhon a wedding ritual was recorded, including archaic elements such as the installation of a felt yurt for the newlyweds, the bride's veneration of the groom's home hearth, the bride's ritual brewing of the first tea as a hostess of the yurt, the bride's veneration of the groom's parents, the ritual game "shavylachyr", etc. The ritual game "shavylachyr" was also recorded in the village of Orkhon.
