Germans in St. Petersburg

The MAE RAS has published a compilation of scientific papers "Germans in St. Petersburg. 18th–20th centuries" edited by Dr. Yulia Valerievna Buchatskaya, senior researcher of the Department of European Studies.The book is devoted to the German pages of the history of St. Petersburg-Petrograd-Leningrad and includes 16 articles representing original research. They focus on the spiritual and cultural life of German Petersburg, the relationships within the German social networks of the city, including in the upper class of the capital of the Russian Empire, as well as – traditionally for the compilation – the life trajectories of professionals of German origin who distinguished themselves in the service of the Russian state and the complex twists and turns of the Leningrad Germans of the 20th century.
The publication was made with the assistance of the Foundation for Support and Development of Russian-German Relations "Russian-German Meeting Centre at the Petrikirche of St. Petersburg" within the framework of the programme to support German minorities.
